Photovoltaic Solar Power

Is The Way Of The Future

Installing a photovoltaic solar power system is an effective way of capturing the sun’s energy to generate electricity in your home. Since Australia is blessed with sunny weather year round, it makes sense for people to use this energy saving device to lower their monthly power bill and carbon footprint at the same time. Citisolar is knowledgeable about all things solar and can help you set up a home solar system based on your requirements.

Study your monthly power consumption

In order to have the correct system in your home, you will have to study your monthly electric bill and work out your average daily electricity use as well as the average amount of electricity needed. This will help you choose the right one based on your requirements and budget.  Remember that electricity is metered in kilowatt hours and 1 kWh is equivalent to 1,000 Watt hours. For example, if you use 1 kW for 1 hour, you have consumed 1 kWh of energy.

What to choose…grid or stand-alone?

You will have to decide whether to get a grid-connected system that interacts with the main electricity grid or a stand-alone system that has its own electricity storage. A stand-alone system should only be an option when electricity supply is not available or connection costs are too high. This kind of system can be more complex and expensive than a grid connected one, since it has more moving parts and will require regular maintenance.

Keep your system away from shade

If your house is an area that is heavily forested or surrounded by tall buildings, then make sure that your panels are not blocked from receiving sunlight. However, if this proves unavoidable, there are electronic components called bypass diodes which allow some electricity to flow around the panel in the event it becomes shaded or damaged. Most of today’s solar panels already have this installed but for those that don’t, you can have these fitted by your solar panel installer.

A photovoltaic solar power system is a terrific money and energy saving device that can lower your monthly electric bill and carbon footprint. With Australia’s push to have 20 per cent of its energy supply coming from renewable energy sources by 2020, it’s high time to make that move and go green.  Fill in the form to get more in-depth information on how you can make that switch to Photovoltaic Solar Panels
